Home Facilities
Falcon House is a purpose built home, we have 40 beds,
for both Male and Female elderly clients, who should be
Residential clients. We can accommodate for elderly
clients, with or without mobility problems.
We have 36 Single rooms, 4 shared rooms. We take clients
who require Long-term Care/Short term Care.

Fees |
The fees for Residential clients are £350 per week for
Private paying clients. The fee is payable in advance o
the day of admission by cheque, standing order or cash.
Fees of periods of less than a week are calculated at a
daily rate of 1/7 of the weekly fee, with part days
calculated at the full daily rate. All fees are reviewed
annually in April. Social service clients are also
accepted at Falcon House.
The fees include Full Board, i.e.:- Breakfast, Lunch,
Tea and Supper and also include all drinks, snacks that
you require throughout the day or night. Your laundry,
heating, lighting and your Care.
Fees do not cover the cost of Newspapers, Hairdressing,
Toiletries, Chiropody, Dry cleaning and treatment by
Private dentist or Opticians, items of clothing and
personal effects.

Trial Period/Termination |
Residence in the home for the first four weeks will be
on a trial basis. If during or at the end either the
client or the homes management regard the arrangement as
unlikely to be satisfactory, for long term, residence
can be terminated with giving four weeks notice of
termination of residence. A shorter period of notice may
be applicable only in situations involving emergencies.
The home has 2 main lounges one downstairs and one
upstairs there are two dining areas where meals are
taken, you can of course choose to have your meal in
your room if you prefer.
The home is equipped with full call system, which can be
accessed in all areas of the building.
The home is centrally heated throughout, and there is a
life to the first floor, where most bedrooms are
located.
There is a fully automatic Fire, Smoke and Heat
detection system throughout the home, And for safety
reasons the home has a No smoking policy.
There is also a court yard.
Our home has a NO lifting policy for the staff that
works here, and they are trained to use the equipment
need as necessary.
We have Care staff on duty 24 hours per day. We do not
provide Nursing Care. The Doctor is available at all
times if needed.
Clients wishing to come into the home are assessed
firstly usually by the Manager or Deputy who will go and
see the client, an assessment can also be made as to the
suitability of the client and to ensure that we can meet
their needs.
All clients are very welcome to come for the day if they
wish to do so with a relative/friend to see if they feel
the home would be suitable for them. This can be
arranged through the Manager of the home.
The Care Standards Commission inspects the home on a
regular basis; there report is available for Clients,
Relatives or Friends to see at any time. If you wish to
see the report, they are placed in Reception or please
ask the Manager who will be happy to give you a copy to
read, before you make a decision to come and live in our
home.
All clients will have a Care Plan; this will be
discussed with you if you are able to do so, otherwise
your next of Kill will be asked to help plan your care.
You are entitled to see your Care Plan at any time, if
your relative wishes to see the Plan of Care your
consent will be needed, under the Data Protection Act
1998. A review of your Care Plan will be undertaken on a
monthly basis unless there is a need beforehand with
your Named Care worker.
The services we provide are listed along with any
additional payments that may be required. We hope you
find the information useful to you. If you feel you have
any further questions, please do not hesitate to come
and see the Manager who will be only too willing to
help.

Visiting |
Visitors are welcome to our home at any time. We would
be grateful if you would sign the register on entering
the home and also when you leave, this is because of
Fire regulations and we know who is in the home.
You may also wish to join your family member for a meal,
this can be arranged, please try give 24 hour notice if
possible.

|
Laundry |
The home has its own laundry facilities. Your laundry is
collected daily from your bedroom and returned as soon
as possible. To help us, we ask hat all property is
clearly named and is able to be machine washed and
tumbled dried.

|
Fire |
Our fire system is checked regularly by the local fire
station and ADT security, we also have regular fire
drills and training for our staff in the home.
|
|
Equipment |
All equipment entering the home, such as Lamps, Radio’s,
and Televisions etc will be tested by a qualified
electrician for safety reasons. Thereafter, all
equipment in the home will be tested at regular
intervals.

|
Library Facilities |
The home has a wide range of books on offer, as well as
this we take book library visits. Most books are kept in
the Snug Room, if the books are not to your liking then
please let us know, and we will try to get you the books
you like.

|
Hairdressing |
The home has its own hair salon. Our hairdresser visits
the home twice a week, usually on Monday and Wednesday.
A full price list is available on request.

|
Optician and Dental Services |
An Optician and Dental surgeon visit’s the home usually
monthly, and this service is free, however you may of
course choose your own, there are opticians and dental
services available nearby.

|
Chiropody |
Our chiropodist visits the home every six weeks for
clients needing treatment. The average price for this is
£7.00. You may of course have your own private
chiropodist to visit the home.

|
Aromatherapy |
We have a therapist who visits the home every week. The
prices vary from £3-£9 depending on what you ask to be
done.
|
|
Religious Needs |
We have local clergy for all denominations who visits
every month for Church Service for clients. If you
require other needs please discuss this with the
Manager.
|
|
Culture Needs |
We hope to be able to cater for your culture needs, such
as your dietary requirements or religious beliefs,
however there may be a communication need that we are
unable to deliver, we do have many staff here that speak
different languages, but they may not be your languages
and this will need to be discussed with the Manager to
ensure we can meet your needs fully.

Smoking |
For safety reasons, the home is NO smoking for all
clients and visitors.
|
|
Doctor |
Falcon House has five doctors practices. You will be
able to retain your own doctor providing they are happy
to visit the home; if your doctor is too far away then
you will be able to register with a nearer surgery who
will take over your care.
|
|
Medication |
On admission to Falcon House, all medication should be
handed in to the person in Charge. Medication is usually
dispensed by our Senior Care Staff, however a Risk
assessment will be made with you and if you wish to self
medicate you may do so, providing the Risk Assessment
done is safe for you to do so, this will be discussed
with you or your family.

Physiotherapy |
Physiotherapy can be arranged for clients who require
this service, and is free of charge. Clients are
assessed for this with their Doctor and a
Physiotherapist can be arranged to visit you in the
home, or if need be for you to visit one of the clinics.
Transport will be arranged for you.

|
Telephones |
The telephone at the home is usually answered by the
Person in Charge. There is also a telephone for clients,
but clients may also have a telephone placed in their
room, if you would like this service please see the
Manager who will arrange for this to be done for you.

Post |
Post is delivered daily to the home, we also collect any
post from you and post It for you. Some
relatives/friends may have to open post for those
clients unable to do so, these are kept in the main
office, please see the person in charge to collect
these.

|
Newspapers |
Daily Newspapers and Magazines can be ordered and
purchased for you at the local Newsagent. Please see the
Manager if you would like this service.
|
|
Pets |
In special circumstances small pets may be allowed in
the Home. This needs to be discussed with the Manager of
the Home.
|
|
Your Room |
Your room comes fully furnished. Clients are welcome to
bring their own personal items and any furniture they
wish to use. Your room includes the following:-
• A clean bed suitable for your needs
• Bed Linen
• Curtains
• Overhead lighting
• Carpet
• A Mirror
• Bedside cabinet, which is lockable
• Wardrobe
• Small fridge
• Electric sockets
• Telephone and Television point
• Keys to the rooms are available for clients wishing to
use them
• A comfortable Armchair
• A Wash Basin
• En-suite Toilet in rooms
• In shared rooms there are curtains to ensure privacy
for personal care
• You will be given the opportunity to move to a
different room if you desired once a room becomes
available
We do however, please ask you not to bring valuables
into the home if you can avoid it.

Social Activities and Outings |
Outings are arranged for clients various times of the
year, depending upon the need. Suggestions and ideas are
always welcome form clients or their families. We also
have in-house entertainment; these include Singers,
Movement to Music Pantomimes.
We also like to arrange something for Easter, Bonfire
Night, Halloween etc, and again encourage your ideas.
We also like to encourage our clients to continue with
their hobbies such as Knitting, Sewing, Painting,
Reading or any other hobby that you have. There are also
Clothes shows for you from time to time; the board in
Reception will let you know when these are happening.
There are regular meetings for clients and their
families and all ideas or suggestions are very welcome.
